The Smurfs, originally titled *Les Schtroumpfs* in French and *De Smurfen* in Dutch, is a Belgian comic series following a whimsical community of tiny blue creatures residing in forest-dwelling mushroom homes. Conceived by artist Peyo (born Pierre Culliford), the characters debuted in 1958, quickly growing into a global phenomenon. Over a hundred distinct Smurfs populate the stories, each named after traits defining their personalities—like Jokey, notorious for his pranks, or Smurfette, the inaugural female member added to the group.
