Memories? Hollow echoes. A weight presses against your ribs—a pendant, cold and unfamiliar, etched with symbols that writhe when you squint. The forest breathes around you, trees groaning as though burdened by secrets. Every step sinks into damp earth, each footprint filling with iridescent liquid that evaporates with a hiss. A low thrum pulses in your skull, syncing with the rhythm of distant machinery—or is it a heartbeat? Your fingers brush bark; the tree recoils, sap oozing black. Something watches. Not an animal. Not human. You run. Vines snarl your ankles, thorned and insistent, but the pendant grows warm, and the vines wither. Ahead, a clearing fractures the gloom—a monolith of corroded steel juts skyward, scarred by claw marks deeper than any blade. A voice, fractured and digital, crackles in your periphery: *"Don’t trust the trees."* Too late. Roots erupt, serrated and alive. The pendant burns. You lunge.
